The Latino Pride Center (LPC), New York City, was established in June 2013 as the first Latino organization in the USA fully devoted to providing health and human services to the gay community. We are seeking fresh talent and highly motivated career-oriented professionals who possess the competencies to actively participate in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of new programs and expansion services that support our vision of a “healthy” community of Latino gay and bisexual men and other Latinos affected by HIV and related conditions.
As of January 1, 2014, the Latino Pride Center opened its doors at its new location in Spanish Harlem, New York. With this move we are seeking individuals to join our team in charting a new course as we re-invent our programming and services. CURRENT VACANCIES
All current vacancies require bilingual (Spanish-English) and bicultural competencies.
SITE DIRECTOR (1 FTE, MANHATTAN SITE) – Under the direction of the Executive Director, the incumbent manages HAF-LPC”s Manhattan Center and administers services delivery at this location. Leads the development and implementation of methodologies designed to maximize programmatic and human resources in the provision of quality services; and is responsible for program development activities, including but not limited to grant writing, program design, implementation and evaluation, staff support and training, and overall daily quality assurance in service delivery.
Candidates for this position shall be seasoned administrator with a proven track record of successful design and implementation of health and human services programs and services. Shall possess a valid NY license in CSW (LCSW) or equivalent, plus 8 years of relevant experience. Bilingual/bicultural competencies (Spanish-English) a plus.
Coordinator, Gay & Bisexual Men’s Services (1FTE MULTI BORO) – The incumbent is responsible for the coordination of NYC-wide comprehensive sexual health and wellness programming directed at Latino Gay / Bisexual Men & Youth. Services include, but are not limited to, health promotion, personal growth, and leadership and community development.
Candidates for this position shall possess a Master’s degree in public health, social work, or related field plus 5 years field experience in conducting wellness promotion services, community organizing and public policy advocacy related to the LGBT community. Candidates must possess program and services planning and supervisory experience. Bilingual/bicultural competencies (Spanish-English) required.
LIFE & WELLNESS COACH (1FTE- MANHATTAN SITE) – The incumbent is responsible for providing individual psycho-educational support counseling and facilitating support groups to gay/bisexual men geared at supporting gay./ bisexual men pursue their life goals and aspirations.. Develops, coordinates and conducts educational workshops focused on promoting knowledge, wellness and health in a holistic manner.
Ideally candidates for this position shall possess NY Sate valid license as CSW or be candidate for licensure. Master’s in Social Work or related field is required in addition to 3 years’ experience providing supportive counseling services to gay/bisexual men and transgender women living with or at high risk for HIV infection. Bilingual/bicultural competencies (Spanish-English) required.
HEALTH & WELLNESS COUNSELOR (1FTE-Bronx Site) – The incumbent is responsible for the implementation and delivery of sexual wellness services. .Specifically, the incumbent develops and manages the retention of a caseload of Latino gay / bisexual men and youth and provides overall wellness coaching and holistic health education, STI screening and testing, and appropriate referrals and linkage to care services. S/he conducts ongoing sexual health and wellness workshops and other related community education activities aimed at improving sexual health outcomes of the target audience.
Candidates for this position shall possess a Bachelor’s Degree in health education or related field, plus 2-year proven track record of successful implementation of Sexual Health Education services to gay/bisexual Latino men. BA may be substituted with an Associate’s Degree and 5 years of work experience in the field. Bilingual/bicultural competencies (Spanish-English) required.
Intake Clerk (1FTE, QUEENS SITE) – The incumbent is responsible for receiving and scheduling clients / participants receiving at services at our organization. Conducts brief screening and directs participants to services, accordingly. Conducts data entry. One of these positions is housed at Queens Pride House, Queens, NY. Bilingual/bicultural competencies (Spanish-English) required.
Candidates for this position shall possess AA degree in human services and/or costumer relations. Degree may be substituted with a High School Diploma and a year of relevant experience. Must possess bi-lingual (Spanish / English) competencies, exceptional interpersonal skills, cultural competencies relevant to LGBTQ issues and good practical knowledge of computers.
